    Thats the Landau reflex and not tonic labyrinthine. In TLR the child placed in prone, the flexion should predominate and ends in 6 months. Landau reflex if you hold a baby in the air and prone, he does superman and it can last from 5 months to 2 years.

    • @chengpohtan9653
      @chengpohtan9653 2 роки тому

      TLR has two parts to test. Landau reflex only look at the “superman” part and develops after 4 weeks while TLR is slowly being integrated

    You said 3 month old babies don't have neck or shoulder muscles and that it's simply the reflex that allows them to lift their head up... That is obviously incorrect. The nerves involved in a reflex innervate muscles which move body parts.

    • @pyramidofpotential
      @pyramidofpotential 6 років тому

      True! I exaggerated. They have some, but build muscle through this reflex. Sorry for the confusion.

    Dear Kathy, When can one start working with child. I saw some behavior of my two year old that might be connected to reflexes. For example she does not like to let go of thing in her hand or just get my hair and do not want to let it go. Do you have experience with toddlers? Could that be a non-integrated reflex?

    • @pyramidofpotential
      @pyramidofpotential 6 років тому

      What you are describing could be a retained Palmar Reflex. If not integrated, later it will show up as using too strong of a grip on a pencil, poor handwriting, and fatigue while writing. I have not had any experience with toddlers, unfortunately. I recommend that you play finger games with her now, and help her isolate her fingers. Practice pointing. And don't stop after a few times. It may take 50 times before she gets it, but only through repitition do we create new connections in the brain. Make it fun! Play "Were is Thumkin". Best wishes!!

    what does it mean if I only got a few correct. I couldn't process it quick enough and it took a lot of thinking to process.

    • @pyramidofpotential
      @pyramidofpotential 7 років тому

      Every one has strengths and weaknesses. It appears that processing auditory information is not your strongest point. It does not necessarily mean that you have trouble reading, but people who can easily do this have one of the stepping stones to being able to decode any word easily. You may read by knowing enough words and parts of words to put together most words, and be able to infer the rest. Many schools teach phonemic awareness to children first, then add in the letter/sound correspondence and the child learns how to read. But not all methods do these steps.

    Thank you Kathy for this useful information. My daughter used to interrupt other people's conversations because otherwise she would forget what she wanted to say. She still has a problem with remembering how to do certain math calculations she has already covered many times. We will practice what you suggest here. :-)

    Will a child with a retained Palmer reflex shake hands with a "cupped" hand (thereby protecting the palm)?

    • @pyramidofpotential
      @pyramidofpotential 8 років тому

      Could be. The hand would automatically curl into a fist when the palm is touched. If the palm is sensitive, there is a retained Palmar.

    I have seen many brilliant results Yvette Blanchard and have practiced the use of primitive reflexes for many years. The work of Carl Ferrari who was a kinesiologist and chiropractor who taught Neural Organisational Technique which incorporated these reflexes had remarkable results. Keep us the good work Kathy Johnson.

    3 month olds have no neck and shoulder muscles? Also, where is the research to support all the links made between primitive reflexes integration and later function? May be time to remove this videoclip from the internet.

    • @pyramidofpotential
      @pyramidofpotential 8 років тому

      Hi Yvette! You are right that infants have some muscles so I should not have said none. There is plenty of research. In order to give this as professional development to PTs I had to pull together the published studies. I have been brain training for 15 years and have seen children leave special education and get onto the honor role after 6 months of brain training followed by tutoring. PrimItive reflex integration is just part of it however it foundational. I cannot convince you of the validity but to see the results I have would bring you to tears. Please don't take hope away from people! I do this from my heart and soul, not to get rich.

      My business is to sell videos that integrate the reflexes. I charge very little for them so I don't feel badly about that. There are so many people who aren't familiar with the reflexes that I know the videos that educate about why they are important are needed. I'm sorry that you were frustrated by not giving enough information.

    why do they have trouble with their vision if they don't integrate this reflex?

    • @pyramidofpotential
      @pyramidofpotential 8 років тому

      When a baby is in this stage of development, he is naturally developing his ability to diverge (see further and further away). The baby spends time during this stage looking at things that are about two feet away - like his bottle or a favorite toy. Or when on his back, he first notices his hand as he waves it in front of his face and moving it. These activities cause the vision system to develop and mature. If a baby misses this stage of development, vision - especially tracking and convergence - may not develop and mature.
